(More customer reviews)I received the Shop-Vac 5960700 today and was pretty much everything I expected. I like the unit's size, it's small but has a 6 gallon capacity, lightweight, not bulky, perfect height and width for storage, powerful suction especially for a smaller unit, very simple design, looks nice and is overall a great unit.
Here are the reasons I didn't give it 5 stars:
Honestly it's not what I'd call quiet, it may be a little "quieter" than past Shop Vac's which were notoriously loud but it's no where near what I'd call quiet and the noise is close enough to the average Shop Vac in my opinion.
The cord length is absolutely pathetic, it's just like a few feet, it should have been twice as long. I guess it's 6 feet as listed but I guess I didn't think of how short that really is. My house vacuum has a 24 foot cord. Even with the hose and extension attachments that gives you extra length you just can't go very far and is only good enough for one area where you can't vacuum your entire garage without an extension cord, maybe a about a quarter of a 2 car garage. I just think it should have had an 8 foot cord at an absolute minimum, an extra 2 feet could definitely help. 10 feet would make the Shop Vac a lot more useful.
Tool storage, the piece on the back only seems to hold 2 of the 3 extensions, not all 3 and the floor attachment can be attached to the bottom of one of the hose extensions. It also allows the cord to be wrapped around it. There is not really any kind of decent design to wrap and store the hose on it which was kind of a bummer. These are just simple things most people would expect.
Otherwise it's a great unit, works very well, it's not obnoxiously loud but it's still fairly loud. I tested it out and vacuumed part of my garage today, it sucked up little rocks no problem. I bought it also for the wet capability if water ever enters the house in potential flood situation aftermath cleanup.
