I have used Techron products for more than a decade and I could not be more pleased with the results. It is now my opinion that Techron is the only fuel injector additive that works. I have spoken with engineers both mechanical and chemical at our nation's car manufacturers, and they agree that this is the one to beat. This is what you really need to be aware of. You can buy Techron in stronger versions than the Pro-Gard offering you are seeing advertised here. It is more expensive, but it is also a better product than Pro-Gard. This version however can be used, but if you choose to use it, my suggestion is that you put two bottles at a time into your gas tank. You will then get the Techron active ingredient in about the same amount as the stronger version which is called Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner.

Simply check out the price of the two different Techron products and then you can figure out at any given time which one to use based on costs. I also use the product about every 5,000 miles, and I do it starting when the car is new. If I bought a used car, I would probably use it every 3,000 miles for the first three or four times and then switch to every 5,000 miles. You will be amazed at what it does for your engine. Please allow me to give you a few other tips if you are interested in prolonging the life of your car.*There are tremendous myths about engine oil, and you need to know that these are not the good old days. Engine oils are far superior to those made 30 or 40 years ago. They last longer, and they work better. You do not have to change your oil every 3,000 or 3,500 miles anymore. A five thousand mile oil change is fabulous, but do make sure that they install a new oil filter when you have the service done. Some places say they do, but they don't based on government pressure. I buy my own filters and have the service people install them. Many oil change places use cheap Chinese made filters that cost 25 to 50 cents. If you cut one open and looked inside, you would be disappointed at the flimsiness of the construction. I either install an original dealer bought filter, or a high end aftermarket filter that is even superior to the ones the dealer sells. *If you can afford it, use synthetic oil, a full synthetic based oil with a good filter. Synthetics blow away regular engine oil. It is like comparing a jet fight to a prop plane. BMW and Mercedes run synthetics for 10,000 miles plus before changing. I use it for about 7,000 miles, and I expect to get 200,000 to 300,000 miles on any car I maintain. Follow me now, the wear and tear on an engine only takes place on start-ups until the engine oil warms up. Once the oil is at normal operating temperature, you could run that engine to the moon and it will keep going. The start-ups wear out the parts, and that is why you need synthetic oil in your engine. It flows (viscosity) at a much lower temperature than normal engine oil, and thus there is less wear and tear on the engine because the engine gets to normal operating temperature much quicker with synthetics. *Change the transmission fluid every 25,000 to 30,000 miles or don't change it at all. If you change it early and often, the transmission never seems to wear. If you wait, the transmission gets use to the particles in it and once you try to change it then you are looking for trouble. So have your technician do a full-flush, not a partial as mentioned above, and the trainee should last as long as your engine. *Replace those fluids, brake, differential, power steering, coolant, and others as specified in your service manual and change the filters too. This is how you make a car last 10 or 15 years. You do not have to do everything that is in the service manual at the car dealer. The purpose of that service regimen is to help your dealer become a millionaire. Do what is intelligent and forget the rest. By the way replace your car battery at 3 years or 50,000 miles whichever comes first. Buy a name brand lifetime replacement battery and forget about it. It will last the life of the care. All original equipment batteries have a limited lifespan. It doesn't matter if the car cost $200,000. The battery is designed for 3 years. The replacement batteries are designed forever. CONCLUSION:Use Chevron Techron, its cheap insurance for your fuel injectors. Do the service recommendations specified above and run your car forever, and thank you for reading this review.Richard Stoyeck
