Buying narrow tarps cost more and take more time to fuss with. Tarps are nice to have on camping trips too. Hang one over your tent and you will be protected from hard cold rains. Hypotermia is a danger even in seemingly clement weather (stay dry and survive). At 2.9 oz., this is easy to carry in your gear works.
